Protect

Before anything grows, it needs a floor.

Insurance is what keeps one hard year from undoing twenty good ones. We start here because every other part of your plan depends on it.

  • Term · Whole · Universal

    Life insurance

Term coverage for the years your family relies on your income, and permanent coverage for estate and legacy goals. The death benefit is generally paid tax-free.

  • Income protection

    Critical illness & disability

A lump sum if you're diagnosed with a covered illness, or a monthly income if injury or illness keeps you from working.

  • Personal plans

    Health & dental

Individual plans for the self-employed, contractors and families who don't have benefits through work, or who lose them when they change jobs.

  • Home · Condo · Tenant

    Property insurance

Coverage for where you live, including the two gaps many BC policies leave open: earthquake and overland flood. Arranged by the licensed property specialists on Blessing's team.

Grow

Tax-smart accounts, filled in the right order.

Canada gives you powerful accounts to grow money in. Which one to fill first depends on your income today, your income in retirement and what you're saving for.

2026 limits

Figures below are the Canada Revenue Agency limits for 2026. Your own room is on your latest notice of assessment or in CRA My Account.

  • Tax-free savings

    TFSA

    $7,000New room for 2026

Growth and withdrawals are tax-free, and what you take out is added back to your room the next year. Eligible since 2009? Your total room is $109,000.

  • Retirement savings

    RRSP

    $33,8102026 maximum

Contributions reduce your taxable income now, and the money grows untouched until retirement. Your limit is 18% of last year's earned income, up to the maximum.

  • First home savings

    FHSA

    $8,000A year · $40,000 lifetime

For first-time buyers. Deductible going in like an RRSP, and tax-free coming out like a TFSA when it's used for a qualifying home.

  • Insurance-based investing

    Segregated funds

    75–100%Of deposits guaranteed

Market-linked growth with a guaranteed portion at maturity or death, potential creditor protection, and money that passes to beneficiaries outside your estate.

Investment products are offered by the appropriately licensed members of the B$B Empire team. Guarantee levels, fees and terms vary by contract.

Plan

A plan that outlives the paycheque.

Coverage and savings are the parts. The plan is how they fit together over the next thirty years, and what happens after that.

  • Retirement income

How much you'll need, when you can stop working, and which accounts to draw from first so you keep more after tax.

  • Estate & legacy

Beneficiary designations, insurance to cover the taxes due at death, and a clear path for everything you leave behind.

  • Business owners

Key person coverage, buy-sell funding and corporately owned insurance for incorporated professionals and owners.

  • New to Canada

Your first Canadian coverage, how TFSA room works for new residents, and a plan you can build on while you settle in.

  • Life's turning points

Marriage, a new baby, a first home, a separation, a new job. Each one is a reason to check that your plan still fits.

In a TFSA, all of that growth is tax-free. In an RRSP, it grows tax-deferred until you withdraw it.

Before you book

Questions

What people ask before they book.

Do you meet online or in person?

Both. Consultations run by video call anywhere in British Columbia, or in person if you'd rather sit down together.

How much life insurance do I need?

Add up the income your family would need to replace, your mortgage and other debts, education costs and final expenses, then subtract the savings and coverage you already have. The life cover calculator above does the math for you.

Should I contribute to a TFSA or an RRSP first?

If your tax rate today is higher than you expect it to be in retirement, the RRSP usually wins. If your income is modest now, or you may need the money before retirement, the TFSA is often the better first choice. Many people use both. Read the full guide.

Will I need a medical exam?

It depends on your age, your health and the amount of coverage. Many policies only need a health questionnaire, and some need no medical questions at all.

Can you review coverage I already have?

Yes. Bring your current policies or your workplace benefits booklet, and we'll check what they cover, what they don't, and what happens to them if you change jobs.
